Since the start of October 2021, the Thiel Tomcats women’s volleyball team has won 5 of their 6 matches, placing them at 4th in the PAC with a 6-4 PAC record as of October 10th, 2021.

On October 2nd, the Cats faced Waynesburg University on their own court in a tri-match against Saint Vincent College. The team managed to win both of their matches, finishing 3-1 against both schools.

Standout freshman Maria Torres led both games in kills, having 23 against Waynesburg and 19 against Saint Vincent.

Torres was recently named the Rookie of the Week for the second time in the PAC Women’s Volleyball section on October 4th.

She then continued to lead in the match against Hiram College with 11 kills and had 15 kills in the match against the Franciscan Barons and led the tri-match against Grove-City College and Washing & Jefferson with 15 kills apiece.

Junior Kylee Eaton, freshman Erica Gregory, senior Abby Triskett, and junior Raquel McDonald assisted Torres and the rest of the Cats in these wins; they all tally a multitude of kills, assists, digs, aces, and blocks each game.

These Cats have been on fire, and it’ll be fantastic to see what these women do next in their season.

The next Women’s volleyball game will be against Geneva College October 14 at 7:00pm.
