Welcome Back, Tomcats!

Welcome to the start of the 2022-2023 school year tomcats! We hope you had an amazing fun filled summer! Campus has been busy while you have been away with renovations and remodeling awaiting on the student’s arrival. Our brand-new gym is still underway and looking great.

Meanwhile some of our sidewalks are looking pristine all thanks to the amazing maintenance crew on campus, be sure to wave hi and thank them for their work if you see them around campus!

The fall season has been going on for a couple of weeks and we have seen a lot of new and old faces on the turf, the court, and the course.

Football began their season on September 3rd with a loss at Montclair State University; they will begin their conference games in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) starting this Saturday, September 10th against Allegheny College.

Cross Country had their first meet of the season at Washington and Jefferson College on September 2nd where the men’s team placed 4th placed fourth and the women’s team placed 5th. Their next meet will take place at Saint Vincent College on September 9th.

The golf team had their season opener September 3rd and the Pitt-Bradford Invitational. The women’s team placed 5th overall, and the men’s team had three individuals that competed. Mark Knox finished tied in 13th place, Tyler Zere finished in 15th place and, Will Zimmerman tie for 35th. They will be back on the green September 15th at the Grove City Invitational.

Men’s soccer began their season with two scrimmages both resulting in wins for the team. They competed in a Westminster tournament this past weekend with a close loss against Pitt-Bradford and a loss against Juniata College. There next game will be against Hilbert College September 7th.

Women’s soccer began their season on September 1st with a win against Lorain County Community College and another win against Medaille College on September 3rd. There next game will take place September 9th against Villa Maria College.

Women’s tennis begins their season today, September 6th, at Grove City College, good luck ladies!

The women’s volleyball opened their season with a few scrimmages then a tournament at the Great Lakes Cross Over, where they recorded 2 wins and 2 losses. They will be competing next in the Pam Briggs Classic starting September 9th.

Thiel also welcomed in a new staff member this past week Jason Fautas who will be our new athletic director. Be sure to extend a warm welcome when you see him on campus!

The class of 2026 moved onto campus with the help of the football team as well as admissions, and Greek Life on Campus. They were officially inducted in the Thiel College community during their opening convocation on August 25th.

We have a lot of exciting events on campus coming up in the next couple of weeks including recruitment for the sororities and fraternities, where our Student Activities Director Than Oo has set up tables with information if you are looking to join Greek Life.

We have an amazing semester ahead of us at Thiel College!
