Louis Vuitton’s Virgil Abloh Dies After Fight with Cancer

SUN, Nov 28: The family of Virgil Abloh, a star of the fashion industry, announced his passing. He died of “a rare, aggressive form of cancer” called Cardiac Angiosarcoma, and is survived by his wife, two children, sister, and parents.

Several prominent designers and celebrities expressed their reactions to his death through social media posts.

Below are several such reactions:

Kim Jones, Creative Director of Dior Men expressed, “So sad to hear about the passing of dear Virgil, one of the kindest people you could meet, many great times spent travelling the world and hanging out in hotel rooms working the floor and going through Japanese magazines and laughing and talking about ideas … my thoughts to Shannon and the children and the rest of his family.”

Fashion House Gucci said, “We would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Virgil Abloh, an immense inspiration to us all both as a designer and as a person. He will be deeply missed though his vision will live on through the trails that he blazed throughout his career.”

Designer Marc Jacobs said, “I am so sorry to read this. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones,” wrote Jacobs, “May you Rest in Peace and Power dear Virgil.”

Model Hailey Bieber explained, “I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am to have known him and worked with him, from walking on his runways to having him design my wedding dress and all the other amazing moments in between, I felt he was always rooting for me… He was someone who always brought life, charisma, love and fun to any situation, and every room he walked into,” she added. “A once in a generation creative mind that is so rare and I’ll never forget his impact. We love you, Virgil.”
