Oct. 29th, 2022: Greenville was really getting into the Halloween spirit on Saturday the 29th from two to four during the annual Halloween parade. There were nearly 1,000 people on the sidewalks of Greenville. The sidewalks were lined with kids and parents dressed up in different costumes. The kids all had their baskets ready to collect the candy that was being thrown. The parade started in Riverside Park and then went up Race Street at the Water Street entrance. After that, the parade turned left onto Main Street and continued on to the end at Louisa Avenue.
The parade consisted of about 25 different groups. the first group was Greenville and Hempfield police. They were followed by their fire departments as well as the fire department from West Salem. Next up was Greenville’s senior high marching band and they were accompanied by Reynold’s senior high marching band as well. The local businesses involved were Padrones Pizza, Greenville Auto Detailing, Paxton’s Restaurant, Sham-Pooch Pet Grooming, Krall Limo and Party Rentals, Depot Saloon and Brewery, Care-Fill LTC Pharmacy, Vibe Dance Academy, Phil Godfrey Ford, Greenville Recycling, Team Lorenzo Zumba, and Pack 51 Scout group. Other groups involved were Dave’s Auto and Diesel Repair from Hadley Pa, SSM Four-H club, Penn Ohio Young Actors Club, Sheakleyville jr. miss, little miss, and miss, Autumn Leaf Pageant Winners, Mike Brooks State Senate 50th district, and Timothy M
McGonigle state representative. The parade came to a close with the Greenville Fire Department. The busiest part of the parade was down the main street.
After the parade was over trick or treating started and lasted from four p.m. to six p.m… The trick-or-treating took place in both Greenville township and Hempfield township. Some upcoming events in Greenville are Vox Luminis on November 1st, Zion’s Fall Festival on November 5th, and the 9th Annual Bark Crawl on November 19th.
