Men’s and Women’s Soccer Season Wrap-Up

On October 26th, 2022, both the Men and Women’s soccer team ended their season. The Men ended with a 1-9 conference record and a 1-15-2 overall record. The Women ended with a 0-10 conference record and a 2-12 overall record. This was a rough season for both of the teams they both had an overall losing record but they both hope to change that for next season.

For Thiel’s women’s team, they had five major leaders this season offensively: Kelly Clark, Tessa Allison, Bailey Fritz, Arlene Barreto, and Katie Aaron. All five had at least 6 shots on goal throughout this season. Kelly Clark and Tessa Allison had the two highest point values which are based on goals scored and the number of assists they had. Tessa had a total of 8 points which was determined because of her three goals and two assists. Kelly had 6 points which were determined based on her 3 goals. The overall statistics for their season are as follows shots, goals, goals per game, shots per game, and shots on goal. Thiel has a total of 16 goals all season with an average of 1.14 goals per game. They had a total of 116 shots all season with 68 of those on goal and an average of 8.3 shots per game and 0.586 shots on goal per game. Thiel’s defense was held up by senior defender Madison Walsh and the Tomcat’s dual goalies- Bethany Bonnar and Sam Hoffman. Bonner and Hoffman both split seven starts this season. Bonner saved 49 of 71 shots with a 0.690% save percentage. Hoffman saved 64 of 98 shots and had a 0.653% save percentage. Their worst loss was against Grove City the score being 1-9 and their best win was against Medaille and Defiance where Thiel won 4 to 0. This season the Women’s team got a new head coach and assistant coach. Overall, based on the past, this season was a one-off. Next season the team should be back in the running to have a winning year.

In the men’s soccer team, the five major leaders were AJ Trobek with six goals, Evan Young who had two goals, and hunter Blatt, Neko Hatton, and Chase Yopp who all had one goal. The two players with the highest number of points were AJ Trobek and Evan Young. AJ with a total of fourteen points which consisted of six goals and two assists. Even who had a total of four points which consisted of two goals. The overall statistics for their season are about their shots, goals, goals per game, shots per game, and shots on goal. Thiel has a total of 12 goals all season with an average of 0.67 goals per game. They had a total of 174 shots all season with 83 of those on goal and an average of 9.7 shots per game and 0.477 shots on goal per game. Their worst loss this season was against Penn State Brandywine and Westminster College where they lost 0-4. The best win from their season was against Saint Vincent where they won 1-0. Overall, this season for our Men’s soccer team was very similar to last year’s season. Next year we should all feel hopeful for a great season from them.
