‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ (or FNAF, as is often called) is back again as fans are excited to watch the second movie of the franchise. The plot of ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s  2’ continues with Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and Abby (Piper Rubio), as Abby is drawn back to the pizzeria because of a “Fazfest” happening. This film rekindles Abby and the reconnection of her to the animatronics, while Mike protects her due to the occurrences of the prior film. The second film also introduces more of Springtrap’s background, and uncovered secrets throughout the film following the FNAF lore.

Now the film takes place a year after the first film leaves off, where Abby is drawn back to the pizzeria after the town hosts a festival in honor of the pizzeria and its legend. New animatronics are introduced, such as Marionette and Springtrap, and if you aren’t new to the lore, you’ll be quite familiar with these characters. Marionette, also known as Puppet, is a game character who is the soul of Charlotte Emily, also known as Henry’s daughter, the creator of the animatronics. Her main form of revenge or attack is against parents who ignore their children. So, in a fit of anger and urgency to save and help Abby, we get an insight into how her character works in addition to knowing her lore. In the film, there is a flashback scene showing the death of Chalotte linking to William Afton and his previous murders. The film’s plot also introduces Henry as linked to being Charlotte’s father and shows Henry’s involvement in being Afton’s partner over the years. Throughout the film, many hints and key references are made referring to a potential additional film, as the movie ends with a cliffhanger that struck fans with shock and many emotions.

I personally thought this movie was very good and being able to see an insight to Puppet and how she became such an influential and purposeful character arch was amazing. I also enjoyed seeing the development of either film in comparison to each other with new plots following one another in a continuation of the ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ lore. I am excited to see what the next film has in store for us fans, both the new and the old. As Afton always says… “I always come back.”
