We, the people of Greenville, enjoy our community park quite a lot, as students at Thiel do, too. Riverside Park has gotten a new look, and everyone is being informed on the latest news…
In addition to these revamped looks and remodels, the disc golf course finally received the love and makeover it desperately needed. The course, originally opened in 2018, had a 9-hole layout, and was expanded to an 18-hole course in 2026. Designed by Brad Silvers of Turbo Putt Disc Golf. (“Riverside Disc Golf Course,” 2026). This included new tees, concrete pads, and even a new improved board with rules and basics to getting to know your way around the course and disc golf plays.
The park originally began renovations about five years ago in 2020, with a slogan “Revamp the Amp” supported by a nonprofit organization called, “Restore Riverside Park.” This organization had been funded by grants exceeding 250,000 dollars to do with any renovations they had in mind to restore Riverside to its fullest. In July of 2023, the park was showcased with a summer concert series held to give awareness for the latest updates (AOL, 2025). The amphitheater has been restored along with tree removal and stump cleaning, and boat launch improvements.
Udisc user, @Pinkdisctosser said in a comment on the course recently saying, “Fun course will be great once concrete tee pads are in. And the holes are being dug to pour the concrete right now today!! Exciting!! The baskets are the best I have found so far in PA or OH since leaving NC.” Another user @michawilliams, mentions “I’m really glad this is an 18-hole course now and I think it was designed almost as good as you could do to add nine holes here. Definitely worth the time!”
It is so refreshing to hear community members and even those who are outside of the Greenville community enjoying their time at Riverside Park.
A student from the University of Akron, Elliot McWright says, “The updated course is very well thought through. The new layout brings challenges to all levels of players, making it fun for everyone! I’ll add that the new concrete tee boxes make a world of difference when playing, as well as the new signs. I think the course does a fantastic job at making the sport easy and accessible to everyone and I look forward to continuing playing there!”
