Thursday September 10th, 2020 at 8:30 p.m., what seemed impossible merely two months ago has now kicked off! I am referring to the NFL season. In the season opener, it was the defending Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs pitted against the Houston Texans.
The talk of the town coming into the game was who was under center for both teams. Both Patrick Mahomes (KC) and Deshaun Watson (HOU) were in the limelight after receiving historic contract extensions in the off-season. After a hard fought sixty minutes of play it was the Chiefs who came out on top with a final score of 34-20. Mahomes was 24/32 for 211 yards with three touchdown passes. Watson went 20/32 for 253 yards throwing one touchdown and also rushing for one as well. The back fields of each team came to play as rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire made a historic rookie debut rushing for 138 yards on 25 carries averaging five and half per touch. Edwards even found his way into the endzone for his first NFL touchdown! Overall, the Chiefs high powered offense and solid defense were no match for Watson and the Texans.
More games to come on Sunday the 13th with it being the opening weekend for the NFL.
